I visited Spain for the first time last year in May and, amazed by the beauty of this country, I wanted to spend more time there. I told everyone that I would like to learn Spanish, but that, due to my obligations at the university, wasn’t possible. As soon as I saw an article about cultural exchange, I immediately became interested and applied the same day. With the advice and help of the beautiful Kristina and her colleagues, I am now in Vajadolid.
I spend the mornings with an eight-year-old boy. We learn English through stories about dinosaurs, Sponge Bob, various sea animals… It is not easy to convince a child to learn during the holidays, so I think it is best to turn learning into a game, so he is not even aware that he is learning. He managed to relax and speak in English, even in front of others, which he didn’t do before. 
The family is really wonderful. They are always there to help me choose a destination for my next trip, they are open for a conversation, happy and they try to make my stay in Spain unforgettable. I spend the weekends in Madrid, Comias, Aqua Park near Madrid, and last weekend we all visited their extended family together. I was thrilled that the Spanish people are always ready to help, they are very friendly and open. It is true that very few of them speak English, but they will certainly always try to help and get along with you.
I would like that my stay in Spain lasts longer, but I have to return to Serbia in two weeks. I will definitely re-apply for this program because it is an unforgettable and wonderful experience. I will return home richer with new friendships, wonderful travels and a feeling that you can only bring from Spain.
