I’m wondering where to begin, how to put my whole little world in a couple of sentences…My Spanish story began with a wish to leave Bosnia, because it became too small and depressing for me. I wanted something exotic and an island in Spain sounded good. It took around two months to prepare the documentation and choose the family. It’s the time we should use to think about the lifestyle we want to have there and the family that’s best for us. When that was done, it was time to go.
At the beginning it wasn’t easy. It’s a new situation, so we need to adapt, change some habits, learn how to respect other people’s space and time. It takes time for the kids to get used to you, to get to know you. Especially if you don’t speak their mother tongue, which was the case with me. But it’s not difficult to overcome those obstacles once you realize how lucky you are to be at such an amazing place. You have enough time for yourself. I went to the beach, went sightseeing every weekend, and met people from different countries. I had a feeling that I’m getting to know the whole world in one place. You get a chance to make new friends, and if you’re lucky, you can also meet a nice guy:) And you get your happy ending. Saying goodbye and leaving is difficult, but you manage it somehow. Because you know you have another family and friends you will remember for the rest of your life.
This article is too short for everything I wanted to share with you, but you’ll have a chance to experience your own story. I recommend this program and the CAR team, they are going to change your life and stay with you every step of the way, to guide and support you with everything you need. My motto is “Do it even if you’re scared”. I did it and it was an amazing experience.
