Vladan is a participant of our cultural exchange program. He’s sending his greetings from Spain. Read about his experience.
I’ve been a part of this cultural exchange program for a month now. I live in a small coastal town in the west of Spain. I expected a lot from this program and I got even more, because Spain exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The food is delicious and I spend all my time with friends in pubs, at carnivals or family gatherings. Spanish people are active 24/7. They are open to new people, just like me, so it was easy for me to fit in the family and my new environment. It feels like I’ve been here my whole life. The family is great, they’ve been treating me like one of their own since I got here.
Sometimes when I look at the sun, the sky, sunsets and landscape, it feels like I’m in a perfect photograph. The mixture of old and new buildings is unique. But the most amazing thing of all is the people. They are relaxed, open and always ready to help. Maybe you’ll think this program sounds too good to be true, but I am a member of this family and I’m happy to participate in their everyday life and tasks, because we do it all together. I travel a lot, so I get to explore Spain and still have enough time to do everything I want to do. I get much more than the contract said I would.
