Before going to study, I wanted to improve my Spanish, so when my friend told me that she had heard about the program, I thought that was the best way. And now, after two and a half month in beautiful Madrid, I can say that I made the right decision.
I have a difficult task ahead of me… So many new people, impressions, places need to be placed in a few rows. But what I would like to point out is the support I received from CAR, from the very beginning of the program. This is a completely new experience for me and I had a lot of questions, I was worried that I would not get along well with my family, that it would be difficult for me to spend three months so far from my country… And they were there to encourage me, answer every my question and resolved any doubts.
As for Madrid, I think it is a perfect blend of modern and traditional. Apart from the famous four towers, you will certainly not see skyscrapers in Madrid, but that is why they have the most modern subways and roads in Europe and the world. I recently visited the first Academy of Fine Arts in Spain, where painting was taught by the world’s most famous painters and artists such as Picasso, Goya, Velázquez… the park is greeted by an unknown person and the cashier in the store wishes you a nice day. There is so much art on the streets, from street performances to opera, you can see everything. And there are always young people in the subway who play and sing, so they bring joy to the underground. I live in the very center of the city, in the family of Ugarte Ortega. Needless to say, they accepted me with open arms and we get along great. They are just everything I expected from a family. We travel a lot, almost every week we visit a small town, a mountain village, or go on a picnic. We were also at sea, in the beautiful city of Alicante. I really like Spanish paella, and delicious turkeys are becoming my favorite treat! If you are reading this and are hesitant, my advice is to indulge in a new experience. You can lose so little, and you can gain the whole world in the palm of your hand.
